Town transport

How to get to Santiago? No problem, it has an air traffic network that hosts national and international flights by prestigious companies like Iberia, Spanair, Air Europa, Air France and British Airways. Operations are mainly in Lavacolla Airport located at Santiago - Lugo Road, km 11, Lavacolla.

Or, you might opt to take the railway and get to see scenic landmarks along the way. By train, there is the Estacion Renfe of Ria do Horreo with Telephone 981 59 60 502. Trains commute daily to Madrid (Talgo and expreso) and there’s also one to Bilbao. Fourteen trains commute daily to La Corua, while eleven go to and from Vigo and eight to Ourense. Connections to Portugal via Vigo are by three trains traveling daily to Porto, while La Corua - Vigo - Barcelona lines provide a route for commuters going to France. So you see, you won’t run out of options in getting to Santiago!

Once you’re in town, it’s definitely time to hit the road. Santiago has two main roads: One is the A-9 motorway, which runs north from Santiago to La Corua and Ferrol, and runs south via Pontevedra and Vigo to Tui, on the border with Portugal. The second main road is the N-VI from Madrid to La Corua, and from there the A-9 motorway on to Santiago de Compostela.

It has San Caetano, with telephone number 981 587 700, as one of its leading bus stations that provides connections to the main Galician municipalities, and main Spanish and European cities. Other bus stations, as well as transportation information are listed below.
